Definitely worth doing the tour to see the old court and cells of what was until recently Europe's oldest prison. The Pendle witches were tried here.

Beautiful architecture from years of the castle being in the hands of the monarchy from approx. 1092. With a brief earldom before regain by Henry Bolingbrook (IV) who's father was John O'gaunt.

Sadly no longer the oldest working prison in Europe but the trip round the court is well worth it
