Intentionally reminiscent of the United States Capitol, it was constructed in the 1890s from Colorado white granite, and the distinctive gold dome consists of real gold plate.

Free tours! Really interesting way to spend an hour and learn about Colorado history, plus it's the only way to go up to the dome, which gives a 360 view of Denver and beyond.

Enjoy the view of the Rocky Mountains at the top of the steps facing west. Take in the splendor of the sparkling gold dome, just refurbished. Can you find the step marking one mile high? (5,280 ft.)
